Julie Schenecker, a woman 50 years old, was charged last night shot and killed his two young sons, 13 and 16 years old, at his home in Tampa Palms, Florida.

Julie Schenecker is alleged to have shot her 14-year-old son while driving home from soccer practice, then leaving his body in the vehicle in the garage of her residence in a gated community in Tampa, Fla. The suspect apparently then entered her home and shot her daughter, 16, while she was seated in front of her computer in her bedroom. According to the Tampa Tribune and local authorities, a.38-caliber pistol purchased just days before was used in both shootings.
Reports of mothers killing their children seem to have risen in recent years, but whether the number of filicides has actually increased or if the advent of worldwide news reporting within minutes makes it seem so, is uncertain.
According to reports, Schenecker will not appear in court because Saturday had been hospitalized for medical conditions that apparently existed prior to the shootings. the nature of her health problems was not disclosed to the letter.
