According to reports, Schenecker will not appear in court because Saturday had been hospitalized for medical conditions that apparently existed prior to the shootings. the nature of her health problems was not disclosed to the letter.

The Space Shuttle Challenger disaster occurred on Tuesday, January 28, 1986, when Space Shuttle Challenger broke apart 73 seconds into its flight, leading to the deaths of its seven crew members. The spacecraft disintegrated over the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of central Florida, United States, at 11:38 a.m. EST (16:38 UTC).

"Early Show" co-anchor Jeff Glor took a look back at the tragedy on the broadcast Friday morning.
On Jan. 28, 1986, June Scobee watched the shuttle's 25th liftoff first-hand. Her husband, Dick Scobee was the commander. Scobee was among the six astronauts -- and one teacher -- aboard the shuttle.
June recalled to CBS News, "We were so excited shouting, jubilant, that finally they were launching."
This particular mission was routine in many ways, but more significant in one. Christa McAuliffe, a social studies teacher from New Hampshire, was chosen to become the first teacher in space. Through lessons, she'd bring the nation's students along with her.
On the 25th anniversary of the Space Shuttle Challenger tragedy, we should all take a moment to remember the seven people who lost their lives. My thoughts and prayers are with their loved ones today.

Obama eyes unfolding events in Egypt

President Barack Obama may have called for Egypt to avoid violence and to allow freedom of speech and assembly ahead of protests scheduled against President Hosni Mubarak today, but early signs are the regime is using most means at its disposal to crush a swelling and stunning wave of dissent in the Arab world's largest country.
President Barack Obama has requested "multiple briefings" on the unfolding crisis in Egypt, where thousands of demonstrators were clashing with security forces, White House spokesman Tommy Vietor said Friday.
Obama has not called Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak -- the target of the protesters' anger -- "but there is daily contact between the U.S. and Egyptian governments through various channels, including the embassies and other organizations in which Obama's messages and concerns are relayed," Vietor said.
Obama has urged the government and demonstrators to refrain from violence as protests continued.
"It is very important that people have mechanisms in order to express legitimate grievances," he said this week.
Vice President Joe Biden told PBS NewsHour on Thursday that Mubarak should listen to protesters. He also said the embattled Egyptian president is no dictator.
Still, he said "violence isn't appropriate and people have a right to protest."
Obama received information on Egypt from National Security Adviser Tom Donilon on Friday and will get other updates later.
Servers of Egypt's main internet provider were down early Friday, according to multiple services that check whether servers used by specific sites are active.
Servers for the Egyptian government's sites and for the U.S. Embassy in Cairo also appeared to be down. But at least one internet service provider, Noor, was still working.
"We are closely monitoring the situation and are aware that communication services, including social media, are being blocked," U.S. State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley said Thursday. "We continue to urge Egyptian authorities to show restraint and allow peaceful protests to occur."
On Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said the U.S. administration was "monitoring quite closely the situation in Egypt and continue to do so, obviously, in Tunisia."
The protests in Egypt started after weeks of similar disturbances sparked a revolution in Tunisia and forced then-president Zine El Abidine Ben Ali to flee the country.
"This is an important time for the government to demonstrate its responsiveness to the people of Egypt in recognizing those universal rights," Gibbs said.

NASA Marks 25th Anniversary of the Challenger Disaster.
Challenger NASA is remembering three major tragedies in its history this week, starting with the 25th anniversary of the explosion of the Space Shuttle Challenger on Friday.
"This year marks the 25th anniversary of the loss of the Challenger—a tragedy that caused us to completely rethink our systems and processes as we worked to make the shuttle safer," NASA Administrator Charles Bolden said in an AFP report.
Along with deputy administrator Lori Garver, Bolden honored the lives of those lost in Apollo 1 and space shuttles Challenger and Columbia by laying a wreath at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia Thursday morning.
"The nation will never forget Jan. 28, 1986, nor its indelible images," Bolden added.
Challenger's entire crew was killed when the shuttle exploded just 73 seconds after its launch, 46,000 feet in the air. The explosion was broadcast on live television.
challenger explosion In 2003, a faulty heat shield caused Columbia to disintegrate as it re-entered the earth's atmosphere, killing seven astronauts. A fire aboard Apollo 1 proved fatal for the vessel's crew of three in 1967. This mission was the first of NASA's manned trips to the moon.
Since 1964, 24 people have been killed in a NASA mission, but NASA says it has learned since then.
"Safety is the number one priority at NASA and the shuttle launch schedule does not drive discussions or decisions when issues arise," a NASA spokesperson told PCMag. "That is reiterated often and is apparent in media events about the issues."
apollo 1 Perhaps the most telling example is the recent delays in the coming launch of Space Shuttle Discovery. The ship was originally set to take off on its final voyage on Nov. 1, but due to leaks, inclement weather, electrical issues, and equipment problems, the mission was delayed more than a half a dozen times. It's now scheduled to lift off Feb. 24.
"NASA has learned hard lessons from each of our tragedies, and they are lessons that we will continue to keep at the forefront of our work as we continuously strive for a culture of safety that will help us avoid our past mistakes and heed warnings while corrective measures are possible," Bolden said.
After Discovery, the shuttle Endeavor is supposed to launch in April 18, the AFP said. Additionally, if Congress hands over the necessary funds, NASA is hoping to send Space Shuttle Atlantis into orbit for an additional trip.
In October, President Obama signed the 2010 NASA Authorization Act, which added an additional flight to the space shuttle fleet before its retirement The administration is looking at a June launch for Atlantis, but it's lacking several hundred million dollars necessary to get the ship off the ground.

O’Malley touts Invest Maryland legislation
ANNAPOLIS (AP) — Gov. Martin O’Malley is highlighting his Invest Maryland proposal.

BALTIMORE (AP) — The Maryland Transit Administration says it will suspend local bus service because of the snowstorm.
MTA spokesman Terry Owens says service will be suspended at 11 p.m. Wednesday and resume on major arteries at 5 a.m. Thursday.
Owens says riders should check the MTA website at www.mta.maryland.gov or call 410-539-5000 before going out to wait for a bus.
Firefighters battle blaze, snow, wind
BALTIMORE (AP) — Baltimore fire officials say firefighters fought a two-alarm house fire in heavy snow and wind. One person was seriously hurt after jumping from a window.
Battalion Kevin Cartwright says the fire was reported Wednesday night and extended to the third floor of the three-story structure.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
MTA curbs bus services; light rail delayed
The Maryland Transit Administration has suspended local bus service and expects it to resume at 5 a.m. Thursday. It has canceled all commuter bus services provided by contractors Thursday.
The agency said service on the light rail line is running 30 minutes late and is not stopping at the Woodberry station. It said the Metro has been running on schedule.

Open Door On Metro-North Train Doesn’t Faze Passengers, Worries MTA

Jeremy Grimes, a daily commuter from Connecticut shot this video, which shows passengers barely noticing a wide open door on a speeding Metro-North train. Even those a few inches from the open door (and the rushing ground below it) don’t seem worried.
The malfunctioning door was left open as the train sped toward Grand Central Station.
“The train started to move and everyone just kind of acknowledged it, eyeballed it for a second and then shrugged it off,” Grimes wrote in an email to the New York Times.
Metro-North officials were far more concerned.
“The footage in this video is very disturbing to us, and Metro-North is investigating,” Metro-North spokeswoman, Marjorie Anders told the New York Times.
Metro-North Railroad is planning a normal weekday schedule for Thursday morning, but asked riders to check their site at www.mta.info before leaving the house about cancelled trains, service disruptions, and other problems with their commute.
Busing will be in effect on the Waterbury branch line Wednesday after 9 p.m. and during the Thursday rush hour.
On Wednesday night, Metro-North Railroad was dealing with the impact of having many trains out of service, by either canceling or combining many runs after 9 p.m. on the New Haven line.
On Wednesday morning, service ran smoothly relative to some other snowy mornings this month, Metro-North spokeswoman Marjorie Anders said, with only 4 of 125 westbound trains late on Wednesday morning.

Taco Bell Meat: Chain Sued Over 36% Beef Content In 'Taco Meat Filling'

UPDATE, 1/25/11: Taco Bell has fired back at a lawsuit alleging that their taco meat filling cannot legally be referred to as "beef." Scroll down for their response.
The Associated Press reports:
MONTGOMERY, Ala. — An Alabama law firm claims in a lawsuit that Taco Bell is using false advertising when it refers to using "seasoned ground beef" or "seasoned beef" in its products.
The meat mixture sold by Taco Bell restaurants contains binders and extenders and does not meet the minimum requirements set by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to be labeled as "beef," according to the legal complaint.
The class-action lawsuit was filed Friday in federal court in the Central District of California by the Montgomery law firm Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis & Miles.
Attorney Dee Miles said attorneys had Taco Bell's "meat mixture" tested and found it contained less that 35 percent beef.
The lawsuit on behalf of Taco Bell customer and California resident Amanda Obney does not seek monetary damages, but asks the court to order Taco Bell to be honest in its advertising.
"We are asking that they stop saying that they are selling beef," Miles said.
Irvine, Calif.-based Taco Bell spokesman Rob Poetsch (PAYCH) said the company denies that its advertising is misleading.
"Taco Bell prides itself on serving high quality Mexican inspired food with great value. We're happy that the millions of customers we serve every week agree," Poetsch said. He said the company would "vigorously defend the suit."
The lawsuit says that Taco Bell's "seasoned beef" contains other ingredients, including water, wheat oats, soy lecithin, maltodrextrin, anti-dusting agent and modified corn starch.
UPDATE, 1/25/11:
In an official statement from Taco Bell, its President and Chief Concept Officer Greg Creed fires back at the suit's lawyers, saying they "elected to sue first and ask questions later -- and got their 'facts' absolutely wrong." Moreover, Taco Bell says they plan to pursue legal remedies for false statements made about their food, emanating from the lawsuit. Taco Bell's official statement:
"At Taco Bell, we buy our beef from the same trusted brands you find in the supermarket, like Tyson Foods. We start with 100 percent USDA-inspected beef. Then we simmer it in our proprietary blend of seasonings and spices to give our seasoned beef its signature Taco Bell taste and texture. We are proud of the quality of our beef and identify all the seasoning and spice ingredients on our website. Unfortunately, the lawyers in this case elected to sue first and ask questions later -- and got their "facts" absolutely wrong. We plan to take legal action for the false statements being made about our food."

There has been no official word from World Star Hip Hop, but (surprise, surprise) there is already a Twitition up to try and save the site. There may be no hope in this case though, and 50 seems to have already set his sights on at least two other targets, saying “I predict 2 more web sites will shut down this week. Take a guess who they are. I’m sick of the hate I’m to strong.”
50 claims to have shutdown the site in collaboration with “howard gordon and the good folks over at homeland.” This could imply that 50 worked with homeland security as some kind of informant. Shortly after well-known hip-hop website Worldstarhiphop.com shut down for unknown reasons, 50 Cent took to his Twitter to let it be known he was the force behind its temporary power cut.
Just hours later, the controversial rapper made a call to New York radio station Hot 97 to publicly express the reasons behind his actions towards the site. "I took a lawsuit... we've been through the process for a while," he said. "Two weeks from now we'll be in mediation to find out exactly how much they owe me. They've been advertising me on Worldstar for two years straight. They used the 'I Am Robot' image at the top of the site and my head was on the actual robot.
"Away from that, them encouraging disrespect on every level possible" is another reason for his dislike of the site, 50 added.
But in the same conversation -- and in true 50 form -- 50 sarcastically said he might've not been responsible for the site coming down, confusing listeners as he teased, "I didn't shut them down. If I rob a bank I wouldn't tell you I did... [but] maybe I did. It's up to the public to decide."
To put more of a twist on the story, Worldstarhiphop.com owner and CEO, a man named Q, called the radio station just minutes after and negated all of 50's claims of involvement. "It's a technical difficulty and has nothing to do with 50 or homeland security or hackers," he said. "We're more or less having difficulties with the site itself as far as our server. We're getting so much traffic we constantly have to upgrade."
Tu further discredit 50's claims, Q reminded listeners that the site had been down before. "We were down in '07  because we got hacked. We got hacked last year and we've also had problems with our bandwith before," he said.
According to Q, the site will be up in the next 24 hours. Q also gave 50 Cent a shout out for the "good promo," although he admitted that he and 50 do have personal beef due to miscommunication and a "falling out a while back."
50 Cent said during his chat that in the new year he is "encouraging people to be completely positive" and to "live better," but that he has "old things that have to be dealt with."

Andy Roddick's Grand Slam drought continues after the American was beaten 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 by Stanislas Wawrinka in the fourth round of the Australian Open on Sunday.
Roddick, who was the last American in either the men's or women's singles draw this year, won his first major at the 2003 U.S. Open.
Since then, the closest he's come to winning his second was as a three-time runner-up at Wimbledon in 2004, 2005 and 2009 and as the losing finalist at the 2006 U.S. Open.
In the quarterfinals, Wawrinka will play Roger Federer, his sometime Davis Cup teammate and who he shared the Olympic gold medal with for Switzerland in doubles at Beijing in 2008.

FRANCESCA Schiavone’s dogged run through the Australian Open continued last night with a 6-4 1-6 16-14 win over Svetlana Kuznetsova in what was the longest women’s grand slam match of all-time.

Middle-West Shrine game is the first of two college All-Star Game to come in the coming weeks. Today’s game will not start major functions. The game is more east west for the guys at the rear end of the project and can be drafted free agents looking to get more exposure to scouts NFL. Most, if not all these guys will not receive invitations to the scouting combine so it’s their chance to impress.
While the College football season is officially over that doesn’t mean we don’t have the opportunity to watch some of our favorite players again.  Today we get a chance to watch the East- West Shrine game where NFL Draft hopefuls are working to improve their draft stock.  The game can be seen on the NFL Network starting at 3:30 eastern time.  I for one love these games as it gives us an opportunity to get a look at prospects against different talent level.  It also asks players to do things out of their comfort level, especially the quarterbacks.  For example this week quarterback Pat Devlin of Delaware had to take snaps from under center which is something he rarely did while in college.  So if your a college football fan and NFL Draft enthusiast then set some time aside this weekend to watch this football game.

Qwiki, a startup pioneering the transformation of data into rich-media narratives, today announced an accumulated series A funding round of $8 million, with a total of $9.5 million worth of funds, taking into account its angel fund.
The round was led by a number of prominent individual investors including Eduardo Saverin (co-founder, Facebook), Jawed Karim (co-founder, YouTube) and Pradeep Sindhu (co-founder, Juniper Networks), as well as institutional investors Lerer Media Ventures, Tugboat Ventures and Contour Venture Partners. Saverin and Pejman will join Qwiki’s Board of Directors.
The new funding will fuel Qwiki’s technology development, which will be followed by a public launch on various platforms. The success of Qwiki’s invite-only private Alpha of its reference products, which has signed up hundreds of thousands of users, is good cause for the latest funding round.
Eduardo Saverin is more prominently known as one of the co-founders of Facebook, with whom Mark Zuckerberg has had some heavy legal battles. He was the former Chief Financial officer of the social media giant and lost much of his shares due to som interesting technicalities. Spartacus: Gods of the Arena shouldn’t work. The six-episode miniseries was designed as a stopgap solution when Spartacus star Andy Whitfield had to bow out of filming a second season to receive cancer treatment. (Unfortunately, Whitfield ultimately had to resign from the series, and the lead role has since been recast.) Making a Spartacus  series that doesn’t actually feature Spartacus sounds like an exercise in futility, like writing a Hardy Boys mystery about the Hardys’ best buddy Chet, or making a Jason Bourne movie without Jason Bourne. To make things worse, the miniseries is a prequel, a narrative format that mainly lends itself to relentless wheel-spinning. So it was a pleasure to find out that the Gods of the Arena premiere was such a surprisingly enjoyable hour of television.

The National Enquirer, N.Y. Daily News, Gawker, Yahoo News, Vanity Fair and other sources report that Todd Palin, the husband of Sarah, has been linked to a female massage therapist, Shailey Tripp, who was recently busted for prostitution.
Police have confiscated physical evidence in Tripp’s arrest, according to reports, that could tie Todd Palin to the alleged extramarital affair.
Hilariously, reports suggest that Shailey Tripp contributed free massages to an anonymous person working for Sarah’s campaign for Governor of Alaska.
Reps for the Dude vehemently deny that he cheated on Sarah Palin, but allegations of Toddles’ extramarital affair with Tripp first surfaced on January 4.
That’s when an anonymous tipster sent out messages to news outlets making the allegation using the address thepalinmorals (at) hotmail (dot) com.
“My sources reveal that a massage therapist and computer technologist, Shailey Tripp, had an affair with Todd Palin that lead (sic) to her arrest March of 2010,” claimed the anonymous Deep Throat (har har) via e-mail.
“According to the tenants in the building of her offices, they saw Todd come and go often and heard noises that sounded like someone was having sex.”
“It was the same tenants who called the police on her.”
Shailey Tripp was in fact arrested on March 4 of last year in Anchorage and charged with maintaining a house of prostitution. She pleaded no contest on June 13 of last year with sentencing set for June 15 of this year.
She must complete 80 hours of volunteer service, not post ads on CraigsList and pay a fine of $500. If she meets these conditions, Tripp can withdraw her no contest plea at the sentencing hearing and the case will be dismissed.
So far, there is little evidence of Todd Palin tagging that, but there appears to be at least some loose connection to the First Dude. If there was hanky panky going on, Dude’s gonna end up in Sarah’s crosshairs map all by his lonesome.
