One of the original health and fitness experts, Jack LaLanne, is dead at 96.

Jack Lalanne was a true legend. He created a huge character in the world through his infomercials exercise equipment and health. He has always tried to be the best he could and to translate these attributes those around the world. Jack was devoted to making us all safe and never stop.
Jack LaLanne, America’s most recognized health and fitness expert, died on Sunday afternoon at his home in Morro Bay, California. The health and fitness guru was 96.
Health and fitness guru Jack LaLanne was known by many generations, with The Jack LaLanne Show spawning four decades, from 50s to the 80s. Jack LaLanne and his health and fitness show was a staple on television, as he encouraged many generations to exercise, eat right, and embark on a health and fitness program to stay in shape.
Health and fitness expert Jack LaLanne was known to the more current generation with his multiple appearances on the CNN show Larry King Live and as a spokesperson for health and fitness juices on late night infomercials.
Jack LaLanne started bodybuilding back in the early 1950s, and was performing strength and endurance stunts with regularity, showing that his health and fitness regimen was the motivation for completing the stunts successfully. Jack LaLanne once did over a thousand pushups in just over 20 minutes.
A spokesperson said that Jack LaLanne died due to respiratory complications that arose from his recent bout with pneumonia. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elaine.
